SOISmail & ManageBac Guides

Osaka International School of Kwansei Gakuin uses two primary systems for online communication with students and parents, and to manage lesson content and reports.

SOISmail: Senri & Osaka International Schools (SOIS) provide each student, and each student’s family, with a SOISmail email account and . This is a Gmail account from Google created within the school’s own SOIS mail system.
ManageBac: This system enables students to access course resources provided by the teachers, to upload assignments and receive feedback on their work, and also allows parents instant access to their child's academic progress, attendance, and school reports.

Teachers and business office staff, sports coaches and other school staff use these SOISmail addresses to send messages and reminders to students, and to send news, reports and invitations to families. Because all families have an active and easily recognisable SOISmail account, the school uses these addresses rather than trying to keep track of individualised personal email addresses to communicate with parents and guardians. As part of our efforts to reducing the amount of paper that is used in the schools, most information to parents is now sent through this system rather than in the form of printed handouts. The SOISmail account should therefore be checked regularly for incoming messages.

Accessing ManageBac

All OIS students are enrolled in grades and classes on ManageBac, which is our online lesson management system. Parents also have their own account on this system, which enables them to see details of the topics their children are studying at the moment, recent or upcoming assignments and deadlines they have, and assessment grades and/or comments from the teacher. Please note that the interface for this system is also available in Japanese, Chinese, French, Spanish and Arabic; parents can switch languages by editing their profile (see the Guide on the right for details). Families with two or more children at OIS can see all their children's details from one parent account, by selecting which child they would like to view using the dropdown box at the top left of the window. Please note that ManageBac is primarily used to distribute and grade assignments from grade 6 upwards, however there is also information about the PYP curriculum on the system that elementary school parents may find useful, and all student reports from K-12 are created and stored on this system.
