Outside the Classroom
ois outside the classroom

OIS students have full academic schedules, but they still find time to be active in many ways outside of the classroom. Some are linked to curriculum and particular courses of study, but many activities are undertaken for their connection to the Student Learning Results as well as for the value inherent in them. Throughout the year students take part in service activities, field trips, camps and more. Some recent ones are outlined below.

Grade 5 Food Fair

As part of their unit of inquiry into “The Market Economy” grade 5 students planned and ran food stalls at school. First they decided on a product to sell, then purchased the ingredients, made the products, set up the stall, sold the goods over two days and finally worked out the profit after costs were deducted. All profits were donated to the Red Cross Appeal for the victims of the Haiti Earthquake. The students were happy to hand over a check to Mr Searle to pass on to the Red Cross. Grade 5 raised over ¥60,000.

Kamagasaki Camp
