Sports News

Our two schools have a rich tradition of successful participation in a wide variety of middle school and high school sports at the varsity, junior varsity and club levels. The Sabers teams benefit enormously from the Two Schools model, comprising of student-athletes from both OIS and SIS. Our association with international schools across Asia and domestic schools in Japan create many opportunities for both overseas and domestic competition.

AISA Girls Volleyball - Seoul, Korea

HS Girls' Volleyball
We were a little nervous at the first annual AISA tournament in Seoul.  KIS was a beautiful school and has 3 gyms.  We had to travel inside the school from one gym to the other which took 10 minutes.  But the people were very friendly and helpful showing us the directions.  We won the championship after the tough game against host school KIS.  We are so proud of you, girls!

HS Boys' Volleyball

SOIS Baseball - Tournament Champions

HS Baseball Team

The SOIS baseball team was invited to a five team tournament, hosted by Canadian Academy in Kobe on September 18th and 19th. SOIS played very well, winning all four of our games and thus becoming the tournament champions. The highlight of the tournament came in the second game as we battled our archrivals, Canadian Academy. We were losing 3-2 with two outs and a man on second in our last at bat. The day was saved by Shoma Murakawa (SIS 10) who hit a home run to win the game. Earlier in the day Jun Hyuk Yoon (OIS 11) also hit a home run. There were also outstanding pitching performances by Ikkei Sakamoto (OIS 12)  and Shoma again with two wins apiece. Congratulations to the team!
