Our two schools have a rich tradition of successful participation in a wide variety of middle school and high school sports at the varsity, junior varsity and club levels. The Sabers teams benefit enormously from the Two Schools model, comprising of student-athletes from both OIS and SIS. Our association with international schools across Asia and domestic schools in Japan create many opportunities for both overseas and domestic competition.

Badminton Team Wins Championship!

Shammi Datta
Badminton Coach

Our Varsity Badminton had the main tournament of the season at Nagoya on the first weekend after the spring break.  Our key SIS players who won us the mid-season championship graduated before the spring break, so we went in as a very young team.  Despite all odds, our players practiced hard over spring break won the team Championship!  Congratulations Sabers!

HS Boys Soccer WJAA Tournament in Kobe

Simon Parker
Athletic Director

With a successful trip to the Kanto Tournament in Tokyo under our belt already this season where we lost out in the final to a very tough St Marys team, the HS Boys Soccer team went to the WJAA Tournament in Kobe full of confidence. That confidence was well justified as they lifted the title for the first time in a number of years after some good quality performances particularly against Yokohama (4-0) and then against the hosts Canadian Academy in the final (2-0). It was the end of the road for several HS Soccer players who successfully graduated from SIS in March - Shun Kanezaki, Shun Nishimoto, Toshinori Matsuo and Yuki Yasumoto all played their final games at this tournament and we thank them for their fantastic contributions over the last 4 seasons. The rest of the squad are in full practice and preparing for the AISA Soccer Tournament in Suzhou, China from April 15th-18th, where we are hoping to continue our run of making the final in several successive tournaments. Watch this space for news from China in a couple of weeks!
