High School Boy's Baseball wrapped up its season

......with a tournament on the US military base at Iwakuni. Three other teams participated in the tournament – Nagoya International School, E. J. King High School and host M. C. Perry High School. On the Friday, October 15, we won a hard fought battle against E. J. King, 7 – 4. We also won our first game on Saturday, 12 – 0 against Nagoya. This led to the final game against M. C. Perry who was also had won its two previous games. MC Perry jumped out to an early lead, 5 – 1 after the second inning. However the Sabers battled back, only down by one run, 6 – 7 as we had the last at bat in the seventh inning. We loaded the bases and pushed across the tying run with one out. Then Koji Hiroi (SIS 10th grader) hit a ground ball through the drawn in infield to drive in the winning run. It was an exciting victory that left many players and managers in tears. Seniors Jun Hyuk Yoon, Hidei Ametani and Daichi Yoshida were also honored for their contributions to the team.  After the game, the team found out they were also awarded the friendship award. This award is given by a vote of the umpires to the team that displays the best team spirit and sportsmanship. This was the perfect cap to an outstanding season.
