OIS - Academic Program

Osaka International School (OIS) is one of over 2600 authorized IB World Schools in over 130 different countries (February 2009). In the IB Asia-Pacific (IBAP) region, the IBO’s fastest growing region, there are over 350 IB schools in 24 countries. There are 14 IB World Schools in Japan. IB World Schools in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan are members of the East Asia sub-region. OIS is the first school in this tri-nation sub-region to offer all three IB programmes: Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).

OIS has offered the DP since the school's inception in 1991. The similarities between the IBO philosophy and the OIS philosophy, combined with the advantages of linked, internationally recognized programmes based on current research, led OIS to also implement the PYP and MYP.

Since its beginning, OIS has proved itself a pioneer in implementing new ideas to provide the best education possible. From the continuing development of the unique "shared school" philosophy with Senri International School to the implementation of all three IB programmes, OIS strives to enhance student learning based on the best educational practices.
