Name: Emma Hoffman
University: Osaka University, Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain)
Major: School of Human Sciences (Global Citizenship)
Career Goal: Working in an international environment, making a real contribution to the world
Extra-curricular: Bilingual information technology team, computer science recruiting intern, translating and interpreting between Japanese and English
Languages: English, Japanese, Spanish, German
About SOIS: "Attending OIS opened doors to opportunities I don’t think I ever would’ve been able to engage in elsewhere. Aside from the high level of secondary education I attained, I was able to participate in a study abroad to Germany, join MUN conferences, and learn a fourth language. I can say with conviction OIS provided me with valuable skills that will be useful in my future and distinguish me from my counterparts."

Name: Lisa Ishihara
University: Osaka University
Major: School of Human Sciences (Global Citizenship)
Career Goal: Graduate school in Europe, then join an organisation where I can make a difference to the lives of people living in developing countries
Extra-curricular: Language tutor
Languages: English, Japanese, French
About SOIS: "SOIS is home to students of diverse background, which has allowed me to learn about different cultures and has helped me mature me into an open-minded person accepting of cultural differences. In addition, SOIS has given me the opportunity to take the International Baccalaureate, which I believe has made me become a more confident, informed, and responsible human being."

Name: Misaki Tanaka
University: Osaka University (Department of Foreign Studies)
Major: Spanish
Career Goal: Working for a Japanese manufacturing or trading company
Extra-curricular: English language teaching assistant, tutor, wind orchestra
Languages: English, Japanese, Spanish, Korean
About SOIS: "I decided to enter SOIS to not forget my English skills, but as I spent my six years in the campus it gave me an opportunity to know more about the world and to be interested in other languages and cultures. I am hoping to be able to work abroad after having some working experiences in Japan. I really believe that without the wonderful environment in SOIS I wouldn’t be who I am now."

Name: Kaoru Yamamoto
University: Kwansei Gakuin University (Department of Education)
Major: Early childhood and elementary school education
Career Goal: Teaching K-12 sports in Nepal through a Japan-based NGO, then a graduate degree in education
Extra-curricular: Soccer, coaching, part-time work
Languages: English, Japanese
About SOIS: "The first time I became interested in education was through a comparative culture course I took at SOIS, whilst the freedom I enjoyed at school - the freedom to make choices, try new things, meet students from around the world - encouraged me to challenge myself. One of the ways I did that was through soccer, a sport I loved playing with students of different ages and backgrounds, throughout my time at SIS. As a result, I have been selected by a Japan-based non-governmental organisation to teach physical education to elementary, middle and high school students in Nepal, an opportunity and experience I could not have enjoyed without the confidence and spirit of adventure I gained at SIS."

Name: Mami Takahara
University: International Christian University (Tokyo) and University College London (UK)
Major: International Relations and Development Studies
Career Goal: To be an 'International Japanese' leader
Extra-curricular: Basketball, futsal, volleyball, English tutor, part-time work
Languages: English, Japanese, Chinese
About SOIS: "SOIS offered me a lot of opportunities to experience, so I was able to be a risk-taker and expand my curiosity. Moreover, my experiences of sports activities and student council helped me build my dream as a leader. In addition, the bilingual environment SOIS offers made me realize the importance of mother tongue. With this, I was able to establish my ideal future vision to become an 'International Japanese' leader."

Name: Rion Mukaiyama
University: Keio University
Major: Faculty of Policy Management
Career Goal: Overseas postgraduate school, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Extra-curricular: Futsal club, part-time work
Languages: English, Japanese
About SOIS: "SOIS has enhanced my intellectual and personal development. There were no rules or guidelines which you had to follow in this school, so it was necessary to develop a habit to think and act by yourself. I feel that many university students lack this ability, so I am very grateful for SIS."

Name: Mira Ishikawa
University: Kwansei Gakuin University
Major: Politics and Diplomacy
Career Goal: To promote Japanese culture and values overseas
Extra-curricular: Horse-riding, part-time work
Languages: English, Japanese
About SOIS: "SOIS made me realize that learning is an ongoing journey, and everyday I should learn and grow even more than the day before."

Name: Tani Shuzo
University: Kyoto University
Major: Faculty of Law, Kyoto University School of Government
Career Goal: Ministry of Foreign Affairs
