About our schools
Osaka International School of Kwansei Gakuin and Senri International School of Kwansei Gakuin are two sister schools situated in north Osaka that share a campus, a purpose and a mission. Osaka International School (OIS) is a K-12 school that offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP curriculum in elementary school, the MYP curriculum in middle school, and the diploma curriculum in high school. Our graduates matriculate into many of the top universities around the world, including the US, the UK, Canada, and Japan. A detailed list of recent destinations can be found on the matriculation page, here [link].
The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and is a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Japan Council of International Schools (JCIS).
Students enrolled in Senri International School (SIS) study for the Japanese middle school and high school diplomas, following a curriculum approved by the Japanese Ministry of Education. Most graduates matriculate into Japanese universities, although every year a significant number choose to study at university abroad. The school has also been chosen as one of the Ministry of Education’s Super Global High Schools.
This ‘Two Schools Together’ page provides an introduction to the campus, vision, and programmes that OIS and SIS share. Separate menus then allow you to explore either school in more detail. Please note, the OIS pages are in English, and the SIS pages are in Japanese. If you have any questions that are not answered here, please contact our office for more information; our staff will be able to help you with your enquiries about either school in English or Japanese.
Shared campus, vision and purpose
Osaka International School and Senri International School were founded to bring together, for the benefit of returnee, national, and international residents of the Kansai region, the best of Japanese and non-Japanese educational ideas, systems, and techniques into two schools which share a building, programs, curricula, philosophies, experiences, and dreams.
The shared 'SOIS' campus means that OIS and SIS students can spend plenty of time together, creating a truly stimulating intercultural learning environment. The library, cafeteria, gym and sports facilities, science labs, art rooms and music rooms, are all places where the students learn and socialize together everyday. The school floor plans below illustrate at a glance the way in which our campus is used by either or by both schools for classes and other activities.
